Do you have the answer but no idea how it got there? Or the working but the wrong answer at the end? Maths is the subject where a final number tells you almost nothing about where things went wrong. The Math Solver shows the steps, and it can check yours against its own.

What is Math Solver?

It is a problem solving tool that treats the working as the output, not the answer. You type the problem, pick the subject and say how you want the solution presented. The Math Solver returns the steps, the reasoning behind each one, and optionally a second method that reaches the same place by a different route.

That second method is more useful than it sounds. Seeing a problem solved two ways is often what makes the first way finally make sense.

Students, Parents And Anyone Marking Their Own Work

Three groups use it differently. Students check working they have already done, with Verify Answer switched on. Parents get a route through a method they were never taught, because the way long division is taught has changed twice since they were at school. And adult learners on statistics or engineering courses use it to unpick a formula that the textbook stated without explaining.

How Does Math Solver Work?

The page is simple by design. A text area for the problem, an engine list above it, a folded panel of settings and a button.

  1. Type the problem, and your own attempt underneath it if you have one.
  2. Choose an AI model from the selector.
  3. Set Subject, Difficulty, Solution Style and Output Format.
  4. Generate and read the solution.
  5. Turn on Show Alternative Method and generate again if the first route did not click.

A worked prompt looks like this:

Solve for x: 3x squared minus 12x plus 9 equals 0
My attempt: I factored out 3, then got stuck.
Subject: Algebra. Solution Style: Step-by-Step. Show Alternative Method: on.

Solution StyleHow the working is laid outStep-by-Step, or Multiple Methods when stuck
Output FormatWhat comes backSteps and Answer, not Answer Only

Explain Reasoning is the option that turns a solution into a lesson, because it says why each step was chosen rather than just performing it. Custom Instructions is where you name the method your course requires, which matters when three approaches all work and only one is being marked.

Check the arithmetic yourself Language models are stronger at method than at calculation. The route is usually right and a number in the middle is sometimes not. Turn on Verify Answer and check anything that looks surprising.

Getting It To Teach Rather Than Tell

What it does well

  • Shows a full method rather than a final number.
  • Offers a second route when the standard one is not landing.
  • Checks working you have already done and finds where it broke.
  • Covers algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, physics and chemistry.

What to keep an eye on

  • Arithmetic slips happen. Verify anything you will be marked on.
  • It cannot read a photograph of a question, so you type it in.
  • Complex notation is hard to type accurately, and a mistyped problem gets solved correctly and uselessly.

Everything on EizTools works without signing in. No quota, no paid tier, and a choice of AI engines on each tool page. Word problems that bury three numbers in a paragraph are easier to solve once trimmed, and the Text Summarizer is the quickest way to strip one back to what it is actually asking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Math Solver free?

Yes. Free to use, with no login wall and nothing metered. Solve as many problems as an evening of homework contains.

Can I upload a photo of the question?

No. You type the problem into the prompt box. Take care with brackets and powers, since a mistyped problem produces a perfectly correct wrong answer.

Is it reliable for exam preparation?

As a method teacher, yes. As a calculator, verify it. Set Difficulty to Exam Level and check every numerical result against your own working.

Does it cover statistics and physics?

Yes. Subject covers Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry and general Science, and the notation changes with the setting.

Getting the answer is the least useful thing that can happen when you are stuck on a maths problem, because the same problem will appear again in a different costume. Getting the method, twice, from two directions, is what stops that. Type your problem into the box above along with what you already tried, and read the working before the answer.
